Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune is a 246-square-mile United States military training facility in Jacksonville, North Carolina. From at least 1953 to 1987, military members, staff and families stationed at Camp Lejeune drank and bathed in water contaminated with toxic chemicals.
The main chemicals found in the water at Camp Lejeune were the dry-cleaning solvent tetrachloroethylene (PCE) and the degreaser trichloroethylene (TCE). However, more than 70 chemicals have been identified as contaminants.
Medical studies and scientific research have shown a link between prolonged exposure to TCE and PCE during military service and the development of certain serious diseases. As many as 1 million people may have been exposed to the contaminated drinking water.
President Joe Biden on August 10, 2022, signed the PACT Act into law. The new law includes the Camp Lejeune Justice Act of 2022, which allows those who developed serious health conditions after exposure to the contaminated water at Camp Lejeune to get compensation for their injuries.
The Camp Lejeune Justice Act of 2022 gives individuals the ability to file a lawsuit if they were exposed to the contaminated water at Camp Lejeune.
We can help Camp Lejeune victims who have previously had their VA claims denied establish a probable link between their disease and their time at Camp Lejeune so they can obtain VA disability compensation.
